2nd Generation

From November 2023 the SootDevil range of vacuums will be upgraded to a 2nd Generation model, they have been redesigned internally and externally.

  • Internally - The vacuum now runs cooler due to the flow of air over the motors being increased plus more air vents have been increased in size. The decibel level of the vacuum has been reduced, due to redesign and better sound insulation.

  • Externally - Added to the vacuum is a USB charging socket(0.5 Amp), so it can be used to charge torches, phones or some small rechargeable inspection cameras. The illuminated motor switches will now only illuminate when the motor is actively turned on, rather than be illuminated permanently when plugged into the mains. There is a new cable restraint on the rear of the vacuum head, this will reduce the stress on the cable when being wound up.

Airflow

When contemplating a chimney sweep vacuum purchase, there is too much emphasis on the number of motors and the wattage a chimney sweep vacuum produces. Far more important is the airflow, this should be the first consideration as this determines the strength of the vacuum and the air it can pull through the machine. This is measured in CFM(Cubic Feet per Minute) with a pre-filter, HEPA filter and a vacuum hose connected. The SootDevil range of chimney sweep vacuums, use robust Ametek motors that produce 108CFM of airflow with one motor and 175CFM with both motors turned on, so in comparison a Dustcontrol DC1800 produces 105CFM, this therefore shows that the SootDevil airflow has great power delivery.

Carrying Weight

Weight can be an issue when carrying a chimney sweep vacuum on a long driveway, upstairs or when full of soot, so the heaviest SootDevil vacuum is 18kg and the lightest is 9.5kg.

Filtration

The SootDevil chimney sweep vacuum filtration use 3 stages of filtration, the first is the closed Hepa-Flo woven filter collection bag, then the pre-filter Dry Filter and finally the H14 rated HEPA filter which is rated at 99.995% efficient, which compared to many popular brands that only use a H13 HEPA filter and are 99.95% efficient. This doesn’t sound a big difference, but it does when it’s keeping the fine dust out of the motors, your lungs and the customers lounge!
